One of my favorite times of the year is when we bring out the good ole’ Red, White & Blue! 🇺🇸 Around Memorial Day is when you will start to see these colors make their way around your neighborhoods- but they usually stick around well past July 4th in my home! One of my favorite ways to get decked out for these fun and festive patriotic holidays is by creating a display on our porch. It’s the first impression you will give friends and visitors, so it’s a great place to decorate. Today I’ll show you how it’s done and give you the inspiration you need to get set up just in time for your Independence Day parties and gatherings!
My starting point for any porch display is stacking something to create height and points of interest. My go to pieces are wooden crates, which can be arranged in many ways to change up your display season to season and accommodate a variety of decor. You can also use bales of hay, metal buckets, old stools, etc.
I like to use another element to add height like a trellis, or on other occasions, a tall sign or topiary. This continues to draw your eyes up, and allows your display to not get overlooked because it will be tall enough to notice.
Once you have figured out the arrangement of your base display (crates and trellis’), now you can shop for and arrange your decor. I like to have a general idea of how many items I might need to fill the space before shopping. (Remember- yard sales, thrift shops, dollar stores and end of season clearance are great places to find holiday decor for reasonable prices. The Target Dollar Spot is awesome too! My displays are a collection of items I’ve purchased over time.) I recommend always adding in some type of greenery or florals to soften the look.
Here are some shoppable items from Amazon that you can use to decorate your home this season. If you have an Amazon Prime Membership, you can get Free 2-Day Shipping on everything I’ve selected!
