As an extension of my last client project- which can be seen HERE, I have designed an adjoining space for my client Amanda, who loves Mid Century Modern, with Bohemian touches, and a hint of Farmhouse. In the prior design, we stayed focused on working with the leather sofas that are already in place. In this design, I sourced new sofas for her, since they will be ready to upgrade those within the next year.
Amanda’s Sitting Room is an open concept into their Living Room area, which is the space we worked on last. It is important for these spaces to tie together because, truly, they are one room. Below you will see the design board I have created for the entire room- some of the items we have already placed in the Living Room are shown, with new items that have been selected for the Sitting Room. I did this so that Amanda could grasp the two spaces as a whole, and see how the items I’ve chosen will work together in unison.
The Gray Fabric Sofa will be the piece that greets you as you enter the Sitting Room. It will be anchored atop a Natural Woven Rug, with fun Navy Blue Poufs to be used as foot rests, or stools. Flanking the walls in this room will be 2 dark Metal Shelving Units, styled with a variety of accent pieces in coordinating colors to compliment the two rooms. Above each Shelving Unit will be a wall sconce, which is a great way to add some much needed lighting, while also highlighting the design. More light will also come from a Floor Lamp that will stand to the right of the sofa. Above the Gray Sofa will be an Abstract Art Piece, which I look forward to either shopping for with Amanda, or hand painting myself. Here is an example of an original art piece I have personally hand painted for my own home.
I would love to create something similar for Amanda’s home.
The Caramel Leather Sofa will replace the larger leather sofa in their Living Room. Two Mid Century Modern style Armchairs with Navy Blue cushions will replace the smaller leather love seat in the Living Room. These beautiful furniture pieces will transform these spaces into the overall style Amanda is looking for. The great thing is that her current leather sofas will still look wonderful in the space until they are ready to upgrade. All of the accent pieces will coordinate the same way, even without the new sofas.
Here is a breakdown of all the items I have selected for the space, where they are from, and the current prices of them (which can always fluctuate, especially when shopping online). Some of these items are not shown on the above Design Board.

Here are a few alternative choices to some of the items I have selected:
Shelving Units:
FJALLBO Shelf Unit- Black LINK– $69.99
This choice is true black vs. the one above being a black brown. This one is more industrial style, with the grating in the shelves, and a wood shelf on top.
72″ Loring 5 Shelf Ladder Bookcase- Project 62 LINK– $94.99
This shelf is in the same collection as your side tables. This would bring a cohesive look, but we need to double check on the wall space available as this is a wider shelf.
Floor Lamp:
Oak Wood Tripod Floor Lamp- Threshold LINK– $75.99
This wood option is less bold than the Modern Black one above.
Rug:
Woven Rug- Gray/Indigo- Threshold LINK– $89.99
This is the same Woven Rug as above, but with blue colors running through it. This is a fun choice if you’d like to embrace the blue full force!
Sven Sofa- 72″ Charme Tan and Mahogany LINK– $1699.00
This sofa is a smaller version of the one listed above, in case we don’t have the space available for the larger one.
What are your thoughts on the overall project? What are your favorite decor pieces in this design? I’d love to chat!
