Happy Friday Friends!
I have been counting down the days this week, because Sunday is install day for a client who is looking to completely decorate her Great Room from the ground up! It’s projects like this that really thrill me.
While it’s always fun to re-vamp, change styles, or decorate seasonally, I absolutely love the feeling of a blank slate, and that is exactly what my client Amanda has provided! Her and her fiancé recently purchased their home and have yet to really put their mark on it. They stay busy with their jobs as they are both young professionals, so when she asked for my assistance in bringing her home to life, I immediately got to work.
What is special about this project, is that we are working with a budget of $500.00, and it is in the form of a gift card Amanda has to Target! This budget is absolutely realistic for a project where you are beginning to lay the foundation of your style. They have their larger furniture pieces already- Cozy brown sofas, an espresso colored wood coffee table, a dining table and chairs in the same finish, and a media unit for their TV. So with $500.00, my goal is to bring in some character pieces and accessories that will define the style she is seeking- Simple, Modern Farmhouse.
This room belongs to one of my favorite girls on Instagram- Nelly Friedel @nellyfriedel. Her style is very reflective of the look I believe Amanda wants to achieve. Nelly’s beautiful photos can be seen on her Instagram HERE, and she has recently started a blog too! 🙌🏻
Modern Farmhouse Style is all about textures, and layers. A mix of old a new. A collection of things that bring warmth and coziness into a space, while keeping a neutral vibe. And for Amanda, she is seeking this, balanced with an appreciation for simplicity. I think the way she put it as we talked was “just not overkill” 😂 Ok girl, I got this! 💪🏻
Another room I draw inspiration for this project from is this gorgeous one from Jaclyn Hodge @shabbydesertnest on Instagram. I adore her beautiful home, her style is one of a kind, and can be seen HERE. Now this style might not be exactly in Amanda’s taste, but as a good rule of thumb, it is always smart to test your client’s boundaries to see what they truly like. She may not know fun bohemian touches are her thing until she sees it 😉
So now onto the fun part- the shopping! When I said I got to work immediately, I meant it! I have already shopped Target.com for things that I think she will love.
Here are some additional items I have selected for this project that are not shown in the photo above. This will give you an idea of the entire look, as well as see the multiple options I have selected for her to choose from.
