It’s Monday, so let’s get into a fun post that I am starting today as a series for us that will run every Monday! ‘Mom Talk Monday’ will be a place for laughs, truths, motivation, inspiration, and everything in between, just for the mamas out there. Follow along!
In my house, when my husband leaves for work in the morning, he always tells me “have a good day!”. And I reply the same. But after stewing on it for the 3 years that I’ve been a SAHM- because you know we have nothing but time to think during the day 😑- it has become an ironic phrase to me.
Next time he says “have a good day!”, I am going to redirect him to the childrens rooms and tell him to ask them to have the good day!! 😂😂 But seriously, that’s how it is determined right?! If my children have a good day of obeying, sharing, eating their meals, appropriately using the provided toilet facilities, etc, TRUST ME HONEY, my day is going to be great!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
This week Mama, I want you to try and take some time for yourself. And I know everyone suggests that, blah, blah, blah. But when I say time for yourself, I mean even if it’s during naps, or cartoon time, sit down in a quiet place and think about yourself.
-Who you are
-Who you were before kids
-Who you wish to be
If those 3 don’t all align, then start to write down and pinpoint what is off. Did you used to get dressed and wear makeup everyday even if you had nowhere to go? But now you wear pj’s until 4pm? Did you used to exercise regularly but now before kids? But now you think there’s no time and no point?
I’m here to tell you all of that is WRONG! Who you are and want to be is NOT dictated by your kids, no matter your circumstance. Those times suckers will take up all of your time and energy if you allow it. YOU are as important to care for as those precious babes. 💪🏻 I myself, after 3 years of staying home, am finally feeling a few steps closer to who I truly want to be. And I work on it EVERY DAY! It has been trial and error, fail and success, and a lot of self doubt along the way. But whatever it is that you want to do, keep trying. Don’t stop. Plan. Focus. Think. Redirect your energy. You got this Mama, I promise.
Next week I will talk about and share some of my tips for carving out time for you! In the meantime, get yourself a nice journal and pretty pens, and start jotting down your thoughts. And, this may sounds funny, but hey… I mean whatever right??….make it a point this week to put your bra on every morning right when you wake up. It really helps to start your day on the right foot with feeling productive and less sluggish! 😉
